Blood donation is not only a noble act but also a critical one, especially in India, where the need for blood is ever-present. Donating blood can save lots of lives. This study analysed a blood donor database collected during a community health project by social work students. The purpose of the study was to identify trends in donation frequency, demographic details, and the factors that motivate individuals to donate blood. The study was descriptive, conducted in the Thiruvananthapuram district. Data was gathered using a structured questionnaire from 239 participants. The findings reveal that the majority of respondents (74.9%) are occasional donors, while only 25.1% donate blood regularly. Gender distribution also shows that males outnumber females. A substantial proportion of donors cited social responsibility and emergency needs as the reason for giving blood. The findings aim to support strategies that improve donor retention and recruitment. A descriptive design was used for the study. The tool used for data collection was a structured questionnaire, consisting of demographic and frequency-of-donation-based questions. The data mobilised was analysed using descriptive statistics.
